COMPANY BACKGROUND

VISION
" To become the Prominent Intermodal Rail Cargo
Operation in the region"

MISSION
" Providing innovative logistics solutions to offer clients competitive,
time and quality rail freighting services throughout the railway networks"

KTMB MMC Cargo was established on 1 December 2015, when Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) and MMC Corporation Berhad (MMC) signed a Shareholder Agreement to form a joint venture firm. These two corporations will be in charge of railway cargo transport and other railway-related activities. According to the terms of the collaboration, MMC will own 49% of KTMB MMC Cargo, while KTMB will own the remaining 51%. KTMB serves more than 100 stations in 10 states in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, on a railway network of 1,677 km. All KTMB tracks use a meter track gauge (1,000 mm) and about 700km of the tracks are electrified. In the year 2018, KTMB served 39.5 million passengers and 5.7 million tons of cargo.

KTM Cargo offers secure and reliable cargo services. With a network that is easily accessible from seaports and inland Container Depots (ICD), as well as urban and rural areas, it is a cost-effective option to transfer your goods. Their shipping services are appropriate for high-risk products because they include insurance coverage. We have a wide range of wagons to meet your cargo requirements. Cargo is typically transported in either fully accessible or covered wagons. However, in the future, all covered wagons will be replaced with containers to allow for greater flexibility in that goods can be dismounted from the train and delivered directly to the customers' premises, thus able to fulfill the concept of door-to-door delivery.

Aside from that, KTM Berhad has created interconnections with other container terminals through rail lines to their depots.

The terminal includes:
  • Padang Besar Terminal ( PBT)
  • Butterworth Container Depot (BCDT)
  • Ipoh Cargo Terminal (ICT)
  •  Segamat Inland Port  (SIP)
  • Pasir Gudang Terminal (PGT)
